Reec Host The SIAC Basketball Tournament, Birmingham, AL

This week college basketball begins the frenzy that is known as “March Madness.” America’s top teams compete in high flying, action packed insanely battles  to win conference tournaments and receive bids for national tournament appearances. The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, or The SIAC, kicked off there tournament March 3 and also celebrated 100 years of existence. Reec of Hot 107.9 Not only received the honor of providing the halftime fan interaction, and entertainment for the ornament, but also connected the city of Birmingham to the festivities by chaperoning several teams, coaches and cheer squads to Boys & Girls clubs and schools that surrounded “The Bill Harris Crossplex Arena” that housed this years SIAC basketball tournament. Reec host halftime as Local Pastors compate for Scholarships for their college bound members 2 When the smoke cleared Saturday night The Tuskegee Golden Tigers defeated the Fort Valley StateWildcats 88-80 in overtime to win the 2014 SIAC Men’s Basketball Tournament Championship, with Richard Dixon of the Tuskegee Tigers taking home the Most Outstanding Player honors. “The Lady Tigers of Benedict College overcame an early deficit to force overtime en route to defeating the Lady Rams of Albany State University, 67-64, to capture its first SIAC Women’s Basketball title since 2010 ( The legendary “Jones brothers” where honored during the championship tournament as well.  They are the only 6 brothers to all play professional basketball! Hotshots take on the “Law” for a Great Cause!

On Saturday February 22, Reec of Hot 107.9 and the Hot107.9 Hotshots Celebrity Basketball Team joined forces with the Dekalb Knights (DPB Bball Team), Dekalb Sheriffs Dept and The US Army to bring a fun filled night for people of all ages! Celebrities also made there way into the event including Hot 107.9's Reec & Maria More, Saleena Johnson (R&B Divas), Kiwanne Garris (NBA / Future Super Stars) and James Collins (Fertile Ground) to name a few. Lt Rory (Dekalb Knights), Reec (Hot 107.9) & Brandon (Dime Magazine) The evening was filled with high flying action and head turning baskets. Plus the atmosphere was loaded with good vibes provided by DJ Deceptacon (@DJ_Deceptacon / FleetDjs) and Reec ( keeping the crowd entertained by hosting the event when he wasn't on the court playing with the Hotshots. Lots of prizes where given to the crowd including some extremely cool socks courtesy of Stance, who also provided some "Fancy Footwear" for the Hotshots and the Dekalb Sheriff's Department team. Other gifts came courtesy of Redbull, Morgan & Morgan Law and Better Homes & Healthcare. (Fatigue Socks by Stance kept the Hotshots looking as well as they played)One of the newest additions to Atlanta's professional football scene also made an appearance, as members of The Georgia Cardinals Football Team came by to meet and greet fans! GA Cardinals Coaches and Staff members enjoy the Game with some fans! Reec Host Redbull #Midnightrun at Barclay Center, Brooklyn!

There was no place better suited to answer the question of Who can officially have basketballs Ultimate Bragging Rights than in the "Mecca of Hoops," Brooklyn NYC! That question was officially answered at the Barclay's Center proceeding a clash between King James Miami Heat and The Big Ticket AKA Kevin Garnet's BK Nets. After a double over time Nets victory, Redbull Midnight Run was ready to take place! The event was full of exciting play and animated to the fullest by Hot 107.9's own Reec aka Mr. Who You Wit and California street ball Legendary MC J.C. "Mouth Piece" Thompson! After a preliminary round  that included top rated hometown hoops heroes from cities such as Atlanta, Chicago, DC, Indianapolis, LA, NOLA, NYC and Philly only four teams where left standing to play in "the big boy gym."  When the smoke cleared only Philly (who beat last years champions Chicago in a come from behind upset), NYC, ATL and Indie where left standing. As the semifinalist took the stage, you could cut the tension with a knife. Philly squared off against Indie  to see who would be the first team to make it to the finals. Philly was stacked with bruisers and slashing guards but in the end they fell short to Indy's basketball savvy play as they executed play after play in machine like style. Next Atlanta played the hometown favorite NYC team. After leading for a solid three quarters, Team ATL lost their momentum and rhythm to NYC who picked up their play in the second half.
